Back in 1946, Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe acquired Finca Santa Margarita, a 180.000 m2 estate with olive trees and vineyards by the Mediterranean, and converted it into his private residence. The finca soon became the family’s Mediterranean hideaway. Enchanted by the atmosphere and its appeal among relatives and friends, and inspired by motels that he had visited in America, the young Prince decided to fashion the finca into a hotel. Marbella Club opened in spring 1954 and a legend was born.
The hotel has evolved from a characterful finca with only 20 rooms, to a destination beachfront resort. Its charms have won the hearts of royals and dignitaries to superstars and sporting heroes. Today it is known as the Marbella Club Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa.
