Mondrian London at Sea Containers dazzled the London hotel scene when it opened its doors on 30th September 2014 on the South Bank. Designed by Design Research Studio under the creative direction of visionary Tom Dixon, the iconic building boasts 359 guestrooms and suites, stunning riverside views, two exciting bars, an expansive restaurant with private dining room, a maritime inspired 56-seat cinema and an exciting new spa concept.
Embracing the building’s heritage, Morgans Hotel Group’s first Mondrian branded hotel outside the United States showcases a number of nautical features including a dramatic, handcrafted copper hull sweeping from the entrance through the lobby into the heart of Mondrian London - the restaurant, Sea Containers, which offers fresh, seasonally considered cuisine that is sustainable, carefully sourced and perfectly prepared.
Mondrian London also provides welcome additions to the eclectic South Bank scene with the exclusive rooftop bar, Rumpus Room, which offers panoramic views across the city’s skyline, and the award‐winning Dandelyan, a seasonal cocktail bar overseen by Ryan Chetiyawardana, A.K.A Mr Lyan.
With a sumptuous green marble bar and dramatic views of the Thames, Dandelyan serves both innovative cocktails and refined interpretations of the classics, taking inspiration from the botanical wilds of the British countryside and around the world. Taking full advantage of the hotel's unique location, many of the design-led 359 bedrooms and suites offer river and city views.
With the golden age of transatlantic ship travel as a departure point and ocean liner cabins as his inspiration, Dixon has created fitted and well-thought-out rooms, incorporating metallic and brass throughout. In addition, each room features bespoke furniture from Tom Dixon and a one of piece of art adorns the wall. The mini bars in each room also offer bespoke pre-packaged Dandelyan cocktails, mixed by Mr Lyan himself.
The hotel also debuted agua Bathhouse & Spa at Mondrian London, a bold spa playground concept.

AGUA BATHHOUSE & SPA
Embracing the Hollywood glamour, renegade origins and bold nature of Morgans Hotel Group and its aspirational Mondrian brand, agua Bathhouse & Spa at Mondrian London has created a distinct social hub for guests. Filled with authentic spa experiences, personalised treatments and an original selection of skincare, some of which agua has introduced to the global spa arena, guests are encouraged to explore a diverse range of therapies in an eclectic and comforting setting.
Debuting its new concept, the Spa Playground, agua at Mondrian London promotes a social, multi-sensory experience that encourages both individual treatments and fun with friends. agua at Mondrian London offers an unorthodox dimension to the spa arena that embraces the heritage and spirit of community found in Roman spa culture. This spa is all about late 1970s influenced ’Glamrock’ and plays a seasonally developed soundtrack to represent the spa’s retro vibe. agua at Mondrian London also serves champagne, freshly prepared beverages and cuisine to suit all tastes and moods; healthy guests can either enjoy a guilt-free raw menu created by the in-house Executive Chef, or indulge in vintage style desserts such as organic chocolate fondues and gourmet ice-cream sundaes.
Designed by Tom Dixon
The cutting edge design of agua at Mondrian is envisioned by Design Research Studio under the creative direction of Tom Dixon, and boasts six spacious treatment suites and Spa & Glamour Lounges, as well as rain howers steam baths.
A striking floor-to-ceiling copper teardrop installation reflects Roman water vessels in the subterranean Spa Lounge, which also boasts an expansive, custom-designed sofa filling an entire corner of the room, mimicking rippled watermarks over sand. This allows guests to lounge, lie or sit, either alone or in groups. Further Roman touches can be found throughout agua at Mondrian London, including the risqué Tom Dixon commissioned nude ‘Renaissance Man’ sculpture. Based on a Neo Classical Roman bust, the wood-sculpted nude is the personification of agua’s new ‘rebellious’ playground concept: relaxed, body-confident, professional yet spirited.
This boutique urban spa uses curving walls, luminous pathways and trippy visuals to play on theunderwater theme, with dappled water projections and lighting effects transforming the space into a maritime adventure that guests won’t want to leave.
agua at Mondrian London offers a core range of fully curated signature treatments, featuring exclusive collaborations with experts and niche wellness brands that include GLAMGLOW, SOVERAL, Dr. Jackson’s Natural Products, Estelle & Thild, Natura Bissé, CIATÉ, de mamiel, Billion Dollar Brows, Lola’s Apothecary, I Love My Muff and Lycon Waxing.
